Olga Barr
Olga Barr is at the top of her vast career. Through involving herself in the film world she has made leaps and bounds on both the financial front and the creatively inspired arena. Her past is grounded in advertising. She spent 14 years as a Global Creative Director for Saatchi & Saatchi. In this role she lead numerous successful campaigns for various clients. Among these were Head & Shoulders, where she played a critical role in turning it into a billion dollar brand. Amongst some of the talent she then worked with and still has a wonderful relationship with Courtney Cox-Arquette, Denise Richards, Salma Hayek and Kristin Davis. Other celebrities she successfully placed in commercials were Patricia O’Neal, Karl Malden, Frank Sinatra, Madonna, Ben Kingsley and Danny DeVito. She has directed over 25 commercials and films, produced 30 commercials and written hundreds of scripts. She has won two Cannes Silver Lions, one Cannes Bronze Lion, five Effies and three Ad&D awards.
On the film investing front, she has worked on a variety of films including Junebug and Master Harold and the Boys - these only a couple of her most recent endeavours. As noted by most, this landed Amy Adams an Oscar, as well as being a financial success for all concerned. The latter is regarded with much excitement amongst the filmic community in anticipation for its release later this year.
Olga is constantly on the forefront of the latest groundbreaking talent. She worked alongside the director of Mugabe and the White African, which was nominated for this years Best Documentary Oscar. Olga is currently in talks with HBO for one of her new projects as well as producing an array of films with some of the most sought-after talent of today. As the director and owner of a brand marketing company she is working with the likes of Kelly Rowland and Kylie Minogue.
Olga is a rare individual in the film industry. With her immense knowledge of advertising she grounds and immerses herself very much in a profitable, yet original, film spectrum. Her views and values concerning such matters are impacting and exact. She realises that films are not always marketed to the extent that fulfills its true potential. In the past she has improved advertising and marketing to make a difference. She realises that film advertising does not often talk to the target. Trailers do not always entice an audience into seeing the film; advertising does not always hit people’s emotions, it does not always give the right message in the right medium. Her aim is to make sure that the marketing for her films is spot on when it comes to the film’s target market, thereby ensuring its success. Especially in a world that is ruled by interactive communication.
Olga Barr has taken intelligent, calculated chances that have paid off brilliantly throughout her business life. She understands the consumer and recognises the need for research to make sure she connects with the target market from one day to the next in our ever-changing world.
